U.S. Senator Accuses Trump’s “Mar-a-Lago Mafia” of Profiting from Iran War

U.S. Senator John Assaf has sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s inner circle, accusing the so-called “Mar-a-Lago mafia” of profiting from the ongoing military conflict with Iran.
In a strongly worded statement, Assaf argued that while American taxpayer dollars fund large-scale military operations and ordinary families grapple with rising costs for everyday essentials, individuals close to the White House are openly seeking to enrich themselves from the escalation. He pointed to reporting by the Financial Times, which revealed that a broker for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth inquired about acquiring stakes in defense-related funds shortly before the start of active hostilities—raising concerns about the potential misuse of classified information for personal financial gain.
The senator singled out members of the president’s family and their business associates for particular scrutiny. He highlighted a company linked to Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. that is actively marketing drone interception systems to Persian Gulf monarchies, effectively turning regional defense needs into a profit opportunity for the Trump family. Similar allegations were leveled at Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, who already oversees approximately $2 billion in Saudi investments. Assaf claimed that Kushner is leveraging his role in official U.S. diplomatic negotiations regarding Iran to solicit additional billions from Gulf princes and sheikhs, blurring the lines between American national interests and private financial gain.
